Biography

From the CD Fraser McGlynn and his Scottish Dance Band.

Fraser McGlynn was born and brought up in the village of Tarbert, Argyll. He started playing the button key accordion at the age of 13. Teaching himself both to play and read music, he won the Scottish Accordion Championship at Perth in 1962 and again in 1966.
His band was formed in 1965 and they passed the BBC broadcasting audition the following year. Regular broadcasts followed and in the early 1970s they recorderd two LPs with SCOTIA, the main content of which is included on this CD.
The band travelled extensively , playing at dances, concerts and accordion clubs.
